REST DAY #2

Not a shabby day if you ask me.. got woken up by the cutest puppy ever! she jumped up and woke me up so i decided to grab calli and pull her into bed with me. that lasted only 15 minutes and i kicked her out of the room.

kicked the morning off with some relaxation and breakfast before i got my hands all greased up cleaning the bike and installing new brake pads. hopefully they work tomorrow, ha ha. that'll be interesting.

pat came home from his meetings and cooked up a mean sausage egg and cheese bagelwich. relaxed a bit more, i even took a cold water bath. sure felt nice to flush all of the swelling out of my body but hot DAMN it was cold. my body was literally on fire for the rest of the day to compensate.

we toured notre dame, pretty campus indeed. the church was pretty breathtaking. the painting inside and attention to detail throughout the campus was really something. but we saved the best for last. 5 guys: a chain burger restaurant. i had TWO bacon cheeseburgers.

burger 1) mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, mustard, bbq sauce, green peppers

burger 2) mayo, lettuce, tomatos, grilled onions, mustard, hot sauce, green peppers.

they were both fantastic, but i prefered burger 1, franks hot sauce just isn't that special, nor is it that hot to begin with.

i also split a large cajun fries with cole. the cool thing is that they also serve peanuts, which is a nice plus.

afterwards (85-95%, full that is) we headed to best buy so i could purchase some headphones for my ipod, on top of that we had a frostee from wendy's.. mmmmmm perfect desert to finish off the day. coming back home i was all stoked to put some music on my ipod, but apparently it's dead, corrupted etc... i just carried an ipod over 1000 miles and it was dead.. sad day for my wallet.

i decided i needed music and ordered myself an ipod nano to be shipped to coles grandparents. hopefully it's there when i arrive. now i'm carrying an ipod and a set of headphones that i can't use..

so money is on the tight side, so i'm thinking i might road trip back with a couple friends if the opportunity arrises. everything will pretty much have to work out perfectly. i'de have to arrive in cali early or i'll have to leave the day after i get there...

i dont' see either of those happening but what i can see is flying from cali to wherever they may be and driving back the rest of the way..... i guess there is still some time to figure that out....

well it's past 11 and we have to wake up at 6am.. we have back to back 120-125 mile days to get to peroria, IL, then we have another 100 or so to get to MO and from there we have a 160 mile day from MO to KS. YIKES. and they say tomorrow means rain.. i sure hope the rain holds off!!!

  1. Cecilia, aka, the "hot" 50 yr. old, is reading your posts, John, so I'll know what to expect when I hit the road in 2 years. OMG - TMI re: Chad's pooping. The stuff you guys are eating would bung up anyone's system! Keep the faith and keep riding and stay safe.
